ṣaṣṭho'dhyāyaḥ
ṣaṭkośaprakāśaḥ

Sixth Chapter

śrīḥ-
pūrṇastimitaṣāḍguṇyacidānandamahodadheḥ |
ahaṁtāhaṁ harerādyā nistaraṅgārṇavākṛteḥ || 1 ||

I am the Ahanta of SriHari who is tranquil like a waveless ocean, in whom all the six gunas are completely exist, who is the ocean of cidanada

sāhamevaṁvidhā śuddhā kvaciducchūnatāṁ gatā |
sisṛkṣālakṣaṇā devī svatantrā saccidātmikā || 2||

I am of such a manner that I am pure (suddha), independent(svatantra), capable of going anywhere high and low, devi, with the intention to create..

ṣaṭkośatāṁ samāpadye sattāhaṁ vaiṣṇavī parā |
śaktirmāyā prasūtiśca prakṛtistriguṇātmikā || 3 ||

I am Vaishnavi, take six type of khosas(bodies). Sakthi, maya, prasuti, the prakriti with its three gunas..

brahmāṇḍaṁ jīvadehaścetyete ṣaṭkośasaṁjñitāḥ |
sisṛkṣā yā parā viṣṇorahaṁtāyāḥ samudgatā || 4 ||

brahmandam and jivadeham(living body) are those six khosas. From Vishnu's ahantha(i.e Lakshmi)  the wish to create all these things rises out

śaktiḥ sā prathamaḥ kośaḥ śuddhamārgapravartanī |
kośaḥ kulāyaparyāyaḥ śarīrāparanāmavān|| 5 ||

Sakthi is the first and prominent on of the six khosas which is based on SuddhaShrusti (Pure Creation). Kosam is a synonym / or an alternative (paryaya) for kulayam (nest/receptacle/dwelling place). Another name is Sareera(Body)

śuddhe'smiṁn prathame kośe prathamonmeṣalakṣaṇe |
ahaṁmānī paro hyāsīddevaḥ saṁkarṣaṇaḥ prabhuḥ || 6 ||

The first khosa is the first characteristic of the creation. The first Khosa is Samkarshana, the pure , egoistic, eternal, deva and  prabhu.

tilakālakavattatra vikāro masṛṇaḥ sthitaḥ |
tasyāhaṁtā tu yā devī sāhaṁ sāṁkarṣaṇī parā || 7 ||

Like the black moles on the skin the creation exists in Samkarshana without any change (without doing work). I am his thought "I" (ahanta)  and I am his devi, called Sangarshini, the great.

śrīrityeva samākhyātā vijñānabalaśālinī |
yastasyā me samunmeṣaḥ pradyumnaḥ sa tu kīrtyate || 8 ||

When i am full of Vijnana and Balam, I am known as ShrI. That which arising out of me (As shri) is Prathymna

saṁkarṣaṇasya devasya śaktikośābhimāninaḥ |
buddhitve vartate devaḥ pradyumnaḥ puruṣottamaḥ || 9 ||

The abhimana deva of Sakthi Kosam is Samkarshana. The mind (buddhi) of samkarshana  is Prathyumna, the purushottama

bhoktṛbhogyasamaṣṭistu nilīnā tatra tiṣṭhati |
manobhūtasya devasya tasyāhaṁtā tu yā smṛtā ||10||

The enjoyers as well as the enjoyed stand hidden (without movement) in him. I am the Buddhi's abhimana deva Prathymna's thought of "I"(ahantha).

sāhaṁ sarasvatī nāma vīryaiśvaryavivartinī |
yo me tasyāḥ samunmeṣaḥ so'niruddhaḥ prakīrtitaḥ || 11 ||

When I am full of Viryam and Aiswaryam, I am called Saraswati. That which is arising out of me (as sarawati) is known Aniruddha

tasya saṁkarṣaṇasyāhamahaṁkāravidhau sthitā |
saṁkarṣaṇādayo devāstraya ete purātanāḥ || 12 ||

This aniruddha is samkarshana's Ahamkara. The three devas Samharshana, Prathyumna and Aniruddha are very ancient..

jīvo buddhirahaṁkāra iti nāmnā prakīrtitāḥ |
naivaite prākṛtā devāḥ kiṁtu śuddhacidātmakāḥ ||13 ||

and are known as Jiva, Buddhi & ahamkara. Know that these three devas are not of this world(not controlled by the lower three gunas) and are of pure intellect

ādivyūhasya devasya vāsudevasya dīvyataḥ |
tattatkāryakaratvena tattannāmnā nirūpitāḥ || 14 ||

AdhiVyuha,bhagavan Vasudeva's divinity, (the other three vyuhas) get their name based on the acts that they perform

sarve te ṣaḍguṇāḥ proktāḥ sarve te puruṣottamāḥ |
pūrṇastimitaṣāḍguṇyasadānandamahodadheḥ || 15 ||

They all have six gunas (two each) and all of them are purushottamas, there is one who is always in ocean of ananda in whom six gunas exist together

ṣaṇṇāṁ yugapadunmeṣo guṇānāṁ kāryavattayā |
yo'bhūtsa vāsudevastu vyūhaḥ prathamakalpitaḥ || 16||

The one arising out of the six gunas together is the vyuha of Vasudeva, the first conception

tasya śāntirahaṁtā tu sāhaṁ śaktiḥ prakīrtitā |
śaktikośasthitā devāḥ sūyante yatra cintitāḥ || 17 ||

That Vasudeva's ahantha is me , Shanthi. I am called Sakthi in this state. I guide the (reflecting) devas in the sakthi kosha(sankarshana, pradymna & aniruddha)

aniruddhasya yāhaṁtā ratirityeva saṁjñitā |
saiva devī mahālakṣmīrmāyākośaḥ sa ucyate || 18 ||

The Ahantha of Aniruddha is known as Rathi. That devi is mahalakshmi. She is called Mayakosam

mahālakṣmyā ya unmeṣo māyāyā guṇasaṁjñitaḥ |
mahākālīmahāvidyādvayaṁ saṁparikīrtyate || 19 ||

When Mahalakshmi wakes up with Maya Gunas, she is called by two names viz.,Maha Kali and Maha Vidya

mahālakṣmīmahāmāyāmahāvidyāmayo mahān |
praśūtirnāma kośo me tṛtīyaḥ paripaṭyate || 20 ||

Prasuti named kosha is great and it holds all the three states(mayas) of Mahaalakshmi, Mahamaayaa and mahaaVidyaa.

trīṇyatra mithunānyāsan yāni pūrvoditāni te |
pradhānaṁ salilīkṛtya yacchete puruṣottamaḥ || 21 ||

In Prasuuti kosa, the three pairs, as explained earlier, exists. Pradhanam was changed to water and purushottaman was resting on it

sā proktā prakṛtiryonirguṇasāmyasvarūpiṇī |
viriñco'janayadyadvai pūrvamaṇḍaṁ svamātmani || 22 ||

It is called prakriti. The base of all where all the gunas exists equally.Brahma(Vrinji) created the cosmic egg

tadeke prakṛtiṁ prāhustattvaśāstraviśāradāḥ |
mahadādyaiḥ pṛthivyantairaṇḍaṁ yannirmiītaṁ saha || 23 ||

That single cosmic egg is called Prakriti by the people proficient in sastras. At the time of creation, this cosmic egg consists of  all the various things/ states starting from Mahat and ending in Prithvi

tadbhrahmāṇḍamiti proktaṁ yatra brahmā virāḍabhūt|
aṅgapratyaṅgayuktaṁ yaccharīraṁ jīvināmiha || 24 ||

That is called Brahmandam. Brahma is its king. The body with limbs and section is known as jiva.

eṣā kośavidhā ṣaṣṭhī kramaśastanutāṁ gatā |
avarohāḥ ṣaḍete me pūrṇāyāḥ parikīrtitāḥ ||25||

Like this in the six types of Koshas I fully enter in all of them and exists in them

ādye kośe svayaṁ devastridhaivāhaṁtayā sthitaḥ |
pañcasvanyeṣu kośeṣu jīvā nānāvidhāḥ sthitāḥ || 26 ||

In the first Kosha(Sakthi), vasaudeva himself is the Ahantha of the other three vyuhas(samkarshana,prathyumna & aniruddha). In the other five koshas the jivas exist in various ways(differently)

śubhāśubhavibhāgotthāṁ bhajante vividhāṁ daśām |
divyāstisrastrayastāsāṁ mithunāni ca yāni tu || 27 ||

The jivas depending on their good and bad acts enjoy the different life conditions. From these koshas, three celestial vyuhas and three pairs come into existance

aṇḍamadhye'vatārāśca tāsāṁ teṣāṁ ca ye smṛtāḥ |
svātantryanirmitāstvete naiva karmavaśānugāḥ ||28||

The above births (of vyuhas & pairs) that happen inside the cosmic egg are due to my independent thought and not due to their good/bad actions(karma)

aprākṛtāśca te dehā ubhayeṣāṁ prakīrtitāḥ |
anye pañcasu kośeṣu devādyāḥ sthāvarāntimāḥ || 29 ||

The body of these are not made of materials of prakriti. From the other five khosas, starting from devas  ending with inanimate onjects like grass etc

nānāsthānajuṣo jīvāḥ karmabhiḥ saṁsaranti ye |
adhikārakṣayaṁ nītvā śubhapākavaśādime || 30 ||

Take different states due to their Karma (good/bad actions) they go round (in circle of births). Out of them some get out of this karma by leading the path of good and honest

saṁprāpya jñānabhūyastvaṁ yogakṣapitakalmaṣāḥ |
ārohanti śanaiḥ kośānārūḍhā na patanti te ||31||

and attain jnana. Their yoga destroy their blemishes(sins). Then they slowly go up one kosha after another and do not fall down

satyalokātprabhṛtyete yāṁ bhūmimadhirohitāḥ |
punaste na nivartante tiṣṭhantyūrdhvaṁ vrajanti vā || 32 ||

Those who have ascended from earth are placed in Sathya loka. They dont come back. Either they stay there or ascend further

śakraḥ-
kṣīrodasaṁbhave devi padmanābhakuṭumbini |
jīvaḥ ko nāma tad brūhi namaste padmasaṁbhave ||33||

Chakra:-

Born from Milk Ocean(kshirodha), devi, consort of Padmanabha, Born from Lotus, I bow to you. Kindly explain to me about who is Jiva

śrīḥ-
pūrṇāhaṁtā harerādyā sāhaṁ sarveśvarī parā |
tasyāḥ smṛtāścatasro me daśāstridaśapuṁgava || 34 ||

MahaLakshmi :-

O Chief of gods (tridasapungava), I , ancient and Sarveshwari, is Sri Hari's Ahantha. His thought of "I"  exists in four different states

pramāteti vidhā tvekā tadantaḥkararṇaṁ parā |
bahiḥ karaṇamanyā ca caturthī bhāvabhūmikā||35||

The first state is Pramata - knower, the other is anthakaranam(mind,intellect,ahankara). The third is bahikaranam(consisting of the jnanendrityams and karmendriyams) and the fourth BhavaBhumika (the universe)

pramātā cetanaḥ prokto matsaṁkocaḥ sa ucyate |
ahaṁ hi deśakālādyairaparicchedamīyuṣī || 36 ||

Pramata indicates chetana(soul / atma). I am not measurable by time or place etc and I am not bound.

svātantryādeva saṁkocaṁ bhajāmyajahatī svatām |
prathamastatra saṁkocaḥ pramāteti prakīrtyate || 37 ||

On my own free will(svatantra) I bind myself in these things and the first of such binding is called pramata. (refer previous sloka he is still different and unbound)

cidātmani yathā viśvaṁ mayi līnamavasthitam |
pramātari tathaivaitaddarpaṇodaraśailavat || 38 ||

The whole world is contained in me. The world is contained in pramata also like a mountain contained by a mirror

aikarūpyaṁ dvirūpatvaṁ trirūpatvaṁ caturbhidām |
saptapañcakarūpatvaṁ pramātā yatprapadyate || 39 ||

Pramata takes Identity(aikaroopyam), dual , tri, four and thirty five different forms

prakāśenātmano hyeko grāhyagrāhakatāvaśāt |
dvairūpyaṁ tattrirūpatvaṁ jñānākārakriyātmanā || 40 ||

When it expresses itself as Jiva, it is one. As perceiver and perceived it is two. As jnana, form(akara) and work becomes three

saptapañcakarūpatvaṁ tattattattvasthitau sthitam |
Like this with various tathvas it becomes thirty five in total

śakraḥ-
kāni tattvāni padmākṣi kati kīdṛgvidhāni c ||41||
etatpṛṣṭā mayā brūhi namaste sindhusaṁbhave |

Chakra:- Mahalakshmi, with eyes like lotus, came out of ksheerapthi, I bow thee. Kindly tell me which are these 35 tathvas? what are their properties?

śrīḥ-

sthūlasūkṣmavibhedena bhūtāni daśa khāni ca||42||
jñānakarmavibhedena traṇyintaḥkaraṇāni ca |
prakṛtiśca prasūtiśca māyā sattvaṁ rajastamaḥ || 43 ||
kālaśca niyatiḥ śaktiḥ puruṣaḥ paramaṁ nabhaḥ |
bhagavāniti tattvāni sāttvatāḥ samadhīyate||44||

Mahalakshmi:-
Sathvathas hold that they are ten tangible (Sthoola) and intangible (sukshma) matter, ten jnana and karma indriyas, three anthakaranams(mind,intellect and ahamkara), Prakrithi, Prasooti,Maya, (three gunas )Sathva, Rajas and Tamas, Kala, niyati,sakthi,purusham, Paramam, Nabha and Bhagavan

śakraḥ-
mayā śrutāni tattvāni tvadvaktrasarasīruhāt |
vyācakṣvaitāni me devi namaste sarasīruhe ||45||

Chakra:

O lakshmi, born out of Lotus, I bow to thee. I learnt about these tatvas from you. Kindly further explain them to me

iti śrīpāñcarātrasāre lakṣmītantre ṣaṭkośaprakāśo nāma ṣaṣṭho'dhyāyaḥ

Thus ends the sixth chapter named Six Khosa exposition in Lakshmi Tantra of Pancharatra Saram
